Player’s Health’s mission is to create the safest environment possible for athletes to thrive in sport.
MINNEAPOLIS, June 17, 2021 – Athlete safety and insurance tech startup Player’s Health has created a unique abuse prevention training course made up of short videos on various topics for sports organizations to properly educate coaches, parents, guardians, and athletes.
Abuse happens at all levels of sport and no organization or individual is immune. Coaches and parents have an immense amount of responsibility and ability to protect athletes from abuse and misconduct. However, young athletes are also extremely influential over their peers, thereby the course includes two pathways for viewers to choose from, one for minor athletes, and one for adults, including coaches, parents, and guardians. Both pathways include the topics of grooming, responding to abuse incidents, setting boundaries, hazing, and cyberbullying, while the pathway for adults also includes videos on mandatory reporting and creating a positive team culture.
This course features PH Founder and CEO Tyrre Burks, motivational speaker and former college football player John Guydon, interviews with an abuse victim and a child abuse investigations expert, as well as short messages from professional athletes sharing the importance of abuse prevention education.
“We feel like the importance of abuse prevention is spoken about, but not necessarily felt on the level it needs to be. We wanted to create a brand new course that doesn’t just cover the topics straight out of the textbook, but ensures that you feel how big of a role we all play in ending abuse in sports. We are focused on creating an environment where all of our athletes feel safe playing the sports they love.”Tyrre Burks, Player’s Health Founder and CEO
The educational materials in this course were developed by the Risk Management experts at Player’s Health and can be utilized by any sports organization that is not required to complete other abuse awareness training mandated by law. The course can be accessed in the Player’s Health Protect application and will launch on July 1st.
